Some perks in riding FX taxis: you get to learn about the secret codes of the drivers, and understand these, as they exchange banter via two-way radio. For example,FX drivers plying the routes to SM Fairview refer to the mall as “Sierra Mike.” For them, “Sagada” is Fairview Terraces, while “Parola” is their code for the oval-shaped water tank of a known paint brand in North Fairview. (The tank is shaped like a lighthouse, which is called “parola” in Spanish and Tagalog). “Charlie Mama” is Fairview Center Mall, while “Tango Sierra” is Tandang Sora Avenue (especially its corner with Commonwealth Avenue).
